Drive speed capped, lifting untouched

A forklift speed limiter sits between the accelerator and the drive system. When the truck starts moving, the controller reads the actual travel speed; as the forklift approaches the preset limit, the device restricts the throttle or traction signal so the truck cannot accelerate past it. Ease off, and full response returns instantly. Because the limiter only acts on drive speed, the mast, hydraulics and steering keep their full performance — you never lose lifting capacity or control.

On engine trucks the governor manages the throttle input; on electric trucks it works with the traction controller or ECU. Better systems let us program two or more speed profiles — for example a standard site speed and a reduced creep speed triggered by a button or automatically in a defined zone. Where a site needs true zone-based control, the limiter can be paired with sensors or beacons — or with ourforklift anti-collision & pedestrian detection system — so the truck slows itself the moment it enters a pedestrian area, a doorway or a blind corner, then releases when it's clear. Good units are tamper-resistant — the setting is locked so drivers can't quietly wind the limit back up — and many log travel-speed data you can review.

An engineering control, not just a policy

A speed limiter is one of the few forklift safety measures that works whether or not the operator is having a good day. Training, signage and floor markings all rely on the driver making the right choice; a governor removes the choice to speed entirely. That is why HSE managers across UAE warehousing, logistics and manufacturing treat speed limiting as a foundational control rather than an optional extra.

In the UAE, employers are responsible for providing a safe system of work under MOHRE and emirate-level occupational health and safety requirements. Set correctly, kept correct

Calibration is where a speed limiter earns its keep. Setting a number in software is not enough — the truck has to actually travel at the intended speed, loaded and unloaded, on your floor surface. Our technicians calibrate each unit to your agreed limit and verify it with a measured run in both directions, adjusting until the real travel speed matches the target within the unit's tolerance. Once confirmed, the setting is locked so it cannot drift or be altered by an operator, and you receive a record of the set speed for every truck.

A safety control is only useful if it stays working. HYLIFT offers periodic checks to confirm each limiter still holds its set speed and hasn't been tampered with.
